All Smith lenses incorporate Tapered Lens Technology™ to correct the prismatic effect inherent in standard 8 and 9 base lenses. 

By displacing the optical center of the lens and tapering the lens thickness, all light, regardless of what angle it hits the lens at, travels straight to the eye. The result is a lens that is corrected for prismatic power, prismatic imbalance, and pattern definition. Be aware, not all companies offer optically correct lenses like TLT™.
